Abstract

1364561 Fuel injection pumps; regulating I C engine fuel injection ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 17 Sept 1971 [18 Sept 1970] 43414/71 Headings F1A and F1B [Also in Division F2] A fuel injection pump commences delivery when a valve 24 in a return line from the pump delivery chamber 19 is closed, preferably electrically, the delivery passing to whichever injection line has an open electromagnetic valve 28. An electronic control device (not shown) supplies electrical pulses for causing, during each delivery stroke, first closure of the valve 24, then closure of the open valve 28. Hence the control device determines the timing of injection and the quantity delivered. When both valves are closed the delivery is admitted to a gas or spring-loaded variable volume reservoir 1 or flows to exhaust through a relief valve (not shown). During the next delivery stroke the return valve 24 is opened first followed by another of the valves 28 whereafter the above sequence is repeated. Four possible valve constructions are described (See Division F2) and each comprises a pot magnet arranged to attract a non or spring-loaded valve member towards either a closed or an open position.
