Abstract

1310386 Fuel injection pumps ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 20 April 1970 [18 April 1969] 18701/70 Heading F1A In a rotary distributer type fuel injection pump having two orthagonal transverse pumping bores 4, 5 in which pairs of pistons are arranged, fuel is supplied to the bores via passages 13, 23 controlled by solenoid operated valves 16, 22 respectively. Fuel enters bore 5 via an axial bore 18 and an annular groove 21 in the distributer 2 which connects passage 23. On the pumping stroke passage 13 is closed by a valve body 24 when the coil 26 and armature 27 are actuated by an electronic governor control device. The coil is de-energized immediately the delivery passage 19 from bore 5 is closed by rotation of the distributer, and valve member 23 moved from its seat by return spring 25. The bore 4 is supplied in a similar manner. A rest period of 10 degrees follows each pumping stroke during which the valves open thus the quantity of fuel delivered to the bores depends only on the closing characteristic of each valve.
