Abstract

1364170 Two-part couplings ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 22 Aug 1972 [30 Aug 1971] 39088/72 Heading H2E A plug 12 comprises an insulating shell 18 secured to a cable grip 14 and a block 28 carrying pin contacts 76 and an earthing spring 42, the latter comprising an end contact portion 72 extending forwardly of the block at an angle of 45 degrees to the plug axis. The earthing spring is retained in an aperture (44) in the block; an earthing wire may be attached at an opening 52. A screw 26 secures the block 28 and shell 18 together passing through an opening 62 in the spring 42. The plug 12 mates with a complementary socket 80 which comprises a shell 104 formed with a resilient spring 92-urged latch 88 having a depressable projection 102 with a hook 104 which engages a recess 30 in the plug shell 18. An earthing sleeve 96 surrounds the latch 88 and an insulator 86 is formed with a front end 90 which engages the extending portion 72 of the earth spring 42 when the plug and socket are mated.
