Abstract

1363926 Crimping yarns; false-twisters BAYER AG 16 Dec 1971 [18 Dec 1970] 58437/71 Headings DID D1F and D1W In the production of a synthetic e.g. a polyester and/or polyamide, thermoplastic, stretch, non-torque, crimp yarn, two filaments or bundles thereof are separately S- and Z- twisted while being stretched e.g. at a ratio of 1:2.5-5.0 and a temperature of 160-200‹C, by means of a double twister, the resulting false-twist being heat set e.g. at a temperature of 170-220‹C and the crimped filament/ bundles are run off together and wound on a cap. The twister comprises two friction twisting tubes each provided with a friction wheel, one tube being rotated from a driving wheel or a belt drive and the other tube (oppositely rotated) being pivotally mounted and spring urged so that the friction wheels are in driving contact.
