Abstract
1424259 False twist texturing of yarns BAYER AG 5 Dec 1973 [5 Dec 1972] 56429/73 Heading D1F A process for simultaneously false-twist texturing and stretching a synthetic multifilament yarn comprises passing the yarn through at least two heating zones separated from each other in space between a delivery cylinder 4 and a draw-off roller 9, the yarn being delivered from the cylinder 4 to the first heating zone 5 where it is heated without mechanical stress and at low tension e.g. less than 0.5 p/dtex, to a temperature above the glass transition temperature, and thereafter, at a higher tension built up between the first and second heating zones 5, 6 it is stretched and simultaneously friction false-twisted and heat fixed between the cylinder 4 and roller 9 at a temperature greater than 160C. The first heating zone 5 may be formed by a heated roller a contact heater element, or a heated pin, in which cases, a stretching pin is arranged between the zones 5 and 6. In a further embodiment, the yarn makes several turns around a heated roller prior to passing to the heating zone 6. The yarn, which may be of undrawn or partially drawn polyester or polyamide, is passed to the first heating zone at a speed from 200 to 600 metres per minute. The yarn is stretched after passage through the first heating zone at a tension of 0.1 to 0.5 p/dtex, preferably 0.3 to 0.4 p/dtex. The stretching ratio is between 1:1.5 and 1:4.5. The textured yarn may be further heat treated before winding.
