Abstract
1363650 Spot-bonded fibre fabric; flameproofing fabrics JOHNSON & JOHNSON 17 Nov 1971 [1 Sept 1970] 41725/70 Headings DIP and D1R [Also in Division B5] A non-woven fabric comprising flammable cellulosic fibres and fire retardant cellulosic fibres is bonded in discrete areas with binder plus fire retardant. Preferably 5% to 95% fire retardant rayon staple and 95% to 5% flammable rayon or cotton staple are carded or air laid together into a web. Alternatively layers of fire retardant rayon and flammable rayon may be superposed; the top and bottom layers being fire retardant rayon. The web may be reticulated and then printed with an aqueous emulsion using a roller engraved with a pattern of spaced dots. The exemplified emulsion contains an ethyl acrylate/acrylonitrile copolymer, phosphate plasticised PVC, diammonium hydrogen phosphate as fire retardant, a non-ionic surface active agent, a silicone antifoaming agent and a pigment. The rayon may be delustred by titanium dioxide.
