Abstract
136,146. Sig, C. Dec. 2, 1918, [Convention date]. Rollers and roller heads.-The intermediate top roller of the drawing-rollers of cotton-spinning machines is replaced by a weighted or spring-controlled plate 8 that partly encircles, and may be fitted above or below, the roller 5. To obtain a greater draft, an additional plate 7 may be fitted to grip the fibre at its approach to the roller. More than two plates may be provided. The plates are carried on an eccentric shaft 4, by turning which the distance between the nip of the plate 8 and the intermediate roller and that of the front rollers may be adjusted; further to reduce this distance the. lower roller may be raised, or reduced in diameter, for instance to ten millimetres. A light floating roller 13 driven by the front roller and touching the roller 5 may be provided when drawing cotton containing a large proportion of short fibres.
