Abstract

136,083. Cook, J. W. May 1. 1919. Tubes, collapsible, for liquids, such as blueing for laundry use, are provided with an outlet controlled by a flexible diaphragm having one or more vents adapted to remain closed when the diaphragm is in its normal flat position but to open when the diaphragm is bulged outwardly through pressure being applied to the tube. In the form illustrated in Fig. 5, the diaphragm D, which is shown distended to open a vent E, is formed of rubber and is secured within the'neck C of the rigid head of the tube by a clamping-ring H. A screwed cap may be provided. In a modification, the diaphram is secured by a flanged ring to the outer end of the neck. In another form, the diaphragm is cemented to the inner edge of the shoulder B of the tube. The vents are formed by perforating the rubber without removing any of its material.
