Abstract

1359809 Controlling fuel injection electrically ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 8 March 1973 [9 March 1972] 11318/73 Heading G1N In an electronic fuel injection system for an I.C. engine 10 of a motor vehicle having an automatic transmission 60, the system being of the type providing injection valve opening pulses 19 in synchronism with crank-shaft rotation, the duration of the pulses 19 is temporarily increased when the transmission lever 61 is changed from its neutral or parking position to one of its drive positions. As shown, a monostable multi-vibrator 20 provides the pulses, their duration being determined by the intake air pressure and the potential at point S. A switch 64 is associated with the transmission 60 and is closed only in the neutral (N) or parking (P) position of lever 61. This switch is connected between the starter switch 69 and the starter relay 68 of the engine. Switch 65 is the ignition switch. A time switching stage 67 is connected to the junction of switches 64, 69 to determine the potential at point S. The potential at this point decreases to increase the opening pulse duration throughout the period the starting switch 69 is closed during starting. Furthermore, when the switch 64 is opened when the lever 61 is moved to one of its drive positions, R, 2, 3, 4) the time switching stage again decreases the potential of point S, the operation persisting for a period (for example from 1 to 30 seconds) determined by the discharge time of a capacitor 77.
