Abstract
1299589 Glow plug ignition systems ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 19 Nov 1970 [21 Nov 1969] 54943/70 Heading F1B A switching system for glow plugs of internalcombustion, engines especially Diesel engines in motor vehicles, comprises a glow plug heating initiating switch 2 having at least one movable switch member 4 which is biased into its off position by a re-setting spring 3 and is connected to one terminal of a battery of which the other terminal is connected to earth. The initiating switch can be operated against the force of the spring into a glow plug heating position I when current can flow to earth firstly through a heater 7 of a bi-metallic closing relay 6 and through the glow plugs 10, secondly through a coil 16 of another closing relay 17 and normally closed contacts 18,19 a bi-metallic opening relay 20 and thirdly through a signal lamp 14 and normally open contacts of the bi-metallic closing relay 6, when the normally open contacts become closed under the effect of the heater 7. Normally open contacts of the second mentioned closing relay 17, upon operation, complete a holding circuit to one side of the coil 16 of the second mentioned closing relay 17. The initiating switch 2 can be operated into a starting position II when current can flow to earth through a coil of an electromagnetically operated starter motor switch (not shown). The system includes means for energizing the heater 23 of the bi-metallic opening relay 20 when the signal lamp is energized. In a modification the rotary switch 2 is replaced by two push button switches.
