Abstract
1332763 Starting Diesel Engines AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT and REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT 11 April 1972 [ 18 May 1971] 16555/72 Heading F1B [ Also in Division H2] A starting control device for a Diesel engine comprises a first supply circuit for supplying power to the heater plugs 14 of the engine, a supply circuit for a starter motor 2 comprising a switch 3 actuated by a relay coil 4, a second supply circuit for the heater plugs controlled by the closure of the starter motor circuit and a timing circuit adapted to cut off the supply of power to the heating circuit after a predetermined period of time, the circuits being supplied by a source of electric current B through a starting switch 5 having at least three positions. The heater plugs are connected in the first or second supply circuit through a change-over switch 13 actuated by a relay coil 11 which is supplied with power through the starting switch when the starting switch is placed in its on position, 9 and which has its power supply cut off by the timing circuit after the predetermined time. In modifications the timing circuit may comprise a bimetallic switch, a switch having a timed release incorporated in a relay or an electronic circuit.
