Abstract

1359613 Lighting fittings PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 21 March 1972 [24 March 1971] 13164/72 Heading F4R A street lighting fitting for supporting an apertured light-pervious cover 17 comprises a support having a first part 1, for mounting on the top of a pole, separated by a partition 4 from a second part 2, which receives the lampholder 3 and ballast components, and a flange 5 between which and a ring 9 the cover 17 may be clamped by bolts 10, 11, which can be tightened in the direction of the flange 5 against the spring force of springs 14, 15 supporting the ring 9. The outer edge of flange 5 comprises upright edges 6, 7 between which a protruding insulation ring 8 extends to provide a seal for the aperture-defining edge of the cover 17 which is clamped between the flange 5 and ring 9. Studs, e.g. 18, in the flange co-operate with recesses, e.g. 21, in the ring 9, to locate the cover during assembly and the ring 9 has two oppositely disposed flattened portions 16 to enable the cover 17 to be slid over the ring. A drain channel 23 for penetrated rain water and a hook 24 for suspending the cover 17 during maintenance may also be provided.
