Abstract
1359346 Inertia switches; magnetic switches TOKAI RIKA DENKI SEISAKUSHO KK 29 Nov 1971 [28 Nov 1970] 55353/71 Heading H1N An acceleration responsive switch has a member 20, Fig. 2, which moves from its rest position when subjected to an acceleration, and has a member 23 which operates a switch contact unit 21 under its own weight, either member 20 or 23 being a permanent magnet or of magnetic material whereby the weight member, as 23, is held out of operative engagement with the switch contact unit 21 until the acceleration responsive members 20 has moved away. The two members 20, 23 are separated by a thin partition c within the casing 11. In the example the member 20 is a magnet suspended as a pendulum pivoted on a ball joint 18 and the weight comprises a steel ball 23 in a vertical bore 14. In a modification the acceleration responsive member (8), Fig. 1 (not shown), may be a steel ball rolling in a concave conical surface, the weight member (9) being a permanent magnet which falls in a vertical bore (3) when the ball (8) moves away.
