Abstract

1359146 Positive detents ALFRED HERBERT Ltd 15 June 1971 [16 June 1970] 29108/70 Heading F2E A rotatable drive element 10 has teeth which are engaged by a positive detent 13, 14 which is retracted by two devices, the first of which is operated by the application of a manual drive element 26, and the second of which operates when power drive is applied to the element 10, the second drive also causing the manual drive element to disengage. When the manual drive element 26 is applied it causes a lever 18, with a bifurcated end surrounding a square section part 25 of the element 10, to move anti-clockwise and, through abutting face 21, to retract the detent 13. When power drive is applied to the element 10, fluid causes a piston to move rightwardly in a cylinder, and therefore to retract the detent 13, which is fixed to or integral with the piston. This movement of the detent 13, through abutting surfaces 23, 24, causes the lever 18 to move clockwise to push the manual drive element 26 upwardly, disengaging the element 26.
