Abstract

1359137 Feeding sheets AGFA-GEVAERT 25 Oct 1971 [30 Oct 1970] 51778/70 Heading B8R [Also in Division G2] Photographic films to be processed are sensed by opposed rollers 10, 11, having electrically conductive portions which are opposed to one another, with an electrical control circuit responsive to separation of the rollers. The control circuit may be actuated by an interruption of contact between the opposed portions of the rollers, or by a change in capacitance between them. Each roller may be divided into opposed mutually insulated sections 47, each with its own electrical brush contacts 49, so that the change in capacitance brought about by the presence of film, as opposed to air, is separately detectable for each opposed pair of sections, and a count of the number of pairs of sections between which film is present gives a measure of the width of the film in question. Alternatively one sectional roller may be used with an uninterrupted conductive roller to give the same result.
