Abstract
1358773 Bath &c plugs SHU-LIEN LIOU and CHIN-CHIH CHUANG 12 Oct 1971 47465/71 Heading A4N A bath &c. drain plug, suitable for use with a conventional drain socket 1, 5, 6, comprises a hollow shaft 3 adapted to be attached to the socket, a spring 4 located within the shaft, a stem 2 mounted within the shaft and co-operating with the spring, and an elastic plug 9 in the form of a diaphragm held by the stem and capable of adopting a first stable position, Fig.1, inwhich the plug is concave towards the socket and obturates the outlet, and a second stable position, Fig. 2, (not shown) in which the plug is concave away from the socket and water may escape between the members 5 and 9. Nuts 7, 11 engage threads on the shaft 3 and either nut may be replaced by a flange. A head 14 on the stem engages the plug 9 and a washer, snap ring or cotter pin engages the bottom end of the stem. The spring may be replaced by a mechanical equivalent. The plug is changed from the first to the second position by pushing downwardly against the centre of the plug and depressing the spring.
