Abstract

1357455 Headboxes BELOIT CORP 18 Feb 1972 [19 March 1971] 7756/72 Heading D2A A headbox comprises a slice 11 for feeding stock to a fourdrinier wire, the slice having in its chamber 17 elongate vibrational members 20 extending downstream in cantilever manner from a support 18 at their upstream ends whereby when stock flows through the chamber the members 20 vibrate and maintain dispersion of the fibres in the stock. The slice opening 16 may be varied by relative movement of the slice walls 27, 28. The members 20 may be plates but are preferably rods and these may be round, flat, curved or spiralled. The central rods 21 are aligned across the centre of the support 18 while the other rods are circularly arranged around holes in the plate, the holes being for the passage of the stock from a chamber 14. The rods may have bulbous ends, Fig. 4 (not shown).
