Abstract

1355971 Disc mills R B REINHALL 15 June 1971 [30 July 1970] 27973/71 Heading B2A A sector-shaped plate 10, for constructing a grinding disc for a disc refiner, comprises ribs 15 arranged on the segment face which are flatter towards the centre, i.e. are bevelled as at 40 and have steeper sides towards the circumference 22, and form between them channels 29 which become narrower towards the outside, ie. in the downstream direction of stock flow. The channels 29 are blocked by dam ridges 37. The ribs are arranged along arcs whose centres lie on a circle 27 between the notional centre of curvature 18 of the disc (of which the segment forms a part) and the circumference 22 of the segment; the circle has a radius between 50% and 90% of the radius of the arc 20 which defines the beginning of the working area of the segment. Each rib has an angle to radii as would be drawn from the centre of a disc made of the plates increasing from between 0‹ and 60‹ adjacent the inner edge to between 65‹ and 90‹ adjacent the outer edge.
