Abstract

1461057 Disc mills WESTVACO CORP 19 May 1975 [20 May 1974] 21320/75 Heading B2A A refiner plate comprises a disc divided into inner and outer annular sections 40, 50 Fig. 2 which are separated by a circular distribution groove 60, the outer annular section 50 being divided into circle sectors, each separated by stock feed grooves 61 which extend from the circular distribution groove 60 to the periphery; parallel beater bars 51 and flow channels 52 extend across the plate within a sector and are parallel to the lagging feed groove (relative to the direction of rotation). A first portion of these channels extends continuously from the circular distribution groove to the outer periphery, and a second portion extends from the distribution groove to the leading feed groove. Each feed groove is plugged at 53 at its outer periphery. In a second embodiment there is, for each sector, only one feed groove which is at an angle to a radius passing through it, Fig. 6.
