Abstract

1355925 Sparking plugs CHAMPION SPARK PLUG CO 21 Aug 1972 [20 Aug 1971] 38883/72 Heading F1B [Also in Division H1] A supression element 11 comprising a sintered mass of copper oxide is connected in series between terminal 19 and central electrode 14. As shown, the element which may have silver end contacts is placed in the bore of insulator 13. Spring 20 is placed between the element and electrode or between the element and terminal. The element may be made by placing a mixture of cuprous and cupric oxides together with a plasticizer and temporary binder in the insulator bore and firing to sinter the copper oxide and burn off the binder.
