Abstract

1402935 Glow plugs ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 20 Oct 1972 [21 Oct 1971] 48350/72 Heading F1B A glow pin plug for an internal combustion engine has an electrically heatable glow pin 12 secured in a longitudinal bore 11 of the plug housing 10 in a gas-tight manner, the glow pin protruding beyond the face 19 of the plug housing on the ignition side and being supplied with current by a connecting pin 13 which protrudes from the longitudinal bore on the connecting side, the connecting pin being electrically insulated from the plug housing 10 and being partly enclosed by a compressed tubular member 22 manufactured from resilient material serving as a seal between the plug housing and the connecting pin. A stop 20 is located inside the longitudinal bore of the plug housing and abutts against an annular insulating washer 21 which abutts against the tubular member on the ignition side thereof and an insulating annular disc 23 abutts against the tubular member on the connecting side thereof, the tubular member and the insulating annular disc being located on the connecting pin end both being compressed by a spring element 24 which is disposed in the lontitudinal bore of the plug housing. The spring element abutts against an insulator 25 connected to the plug housing and is associated with an insulating tube 27 over its entire length. The insulating tube may be disposed outside of the spring 24. The helical spring 24 may be replaced by at least one cup spring or a spring of heat resisting resilient material.
