Abstract

1,175,333. Temperature-sensitive resistors. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 26 April, 1968 [28 April, 1967], No. 19786/68. Heading H1K. A temperature sensor comprises a metal housing having an externally threaded plug with a central longitudinal blind bore and a thermistor clamped in conductive contact with the bottom of the bore, which is located near the end of the plug, between two contact pieces one of which is in the form of a disc fixed at the bottom of the bore and the other is in the form of a sleeve guided within the bore in an insulated manner and secured to a braided lead by a pinched connection. As shown, Fig. 1, a temperature sensor 1 for the petrol injection system of an internal combustion engine comprises a threaded plug 3 with a hexagonal flange 2 and a blind bore 5 containing a negative temperature coefficient thermistor element 10 clamped between two silver or silver coated contact members 12, 14, both of which have annular beads 12<SP>1</SP>, 14<SP>1</SP> on their contact faces to centre element 10. The upper contact member 14 is crimped to the end of a braid conductor 15 and is pressed against the element 10 by a spring 15 acting via an insulating disc 16 which serves to centre the contact member 14 within the bore 5. The upper end of the spring 11 presses against a copper disc 20 crimped to the braid conductor 15 at such a position that the conductor is S- shaped between the disc 20 and the contact member 14. The disc 20 and the spring 11 are insulated from the body by an insulating sleeve 21, and a reinforcing sleeve 25 secured to the top of the body is crimped over the insulation 18 of braid conductor 15.
