Abstract
960,265. Glow plugs. FABBRICA ITALIANA MAGNETI MARELLI S.p.A. June 26, 1961 [June 28, 1960], No. 22956/61. Heading F1B. In a glow plug particularly for internalcombustion engines comprising a coiled electric conductor 3 (resistance element) enclosed in a metal sheath 2 which is fixed to the plug body, the coil formation has a diameter which increases towards the nose of the sheath and a pitch which decreases in this direction. The resistance element may be of nickel chrome alloy having a resistivity variable with temperature. The sheath may be cooled by surrounding it with a heat conducting member. A part of the conductor in the nose of the sheath may be formed of material having a relatively high resistance.
