Abstract

1384199 Sparking-plugs; ignition systems NIPPON DENSO CO Ltd 6 March 1973 [6 March 1972 21 April 1972] 10950/73 Heading FIB A sparking-plug for an internal-combustion engine comprises a central electrode 11, 19 formed of an electrically conductive sleeve defining an inner chamber 25 in which a heating coil 26 is located, one end of the heating coil being connected to a base 20 of the conductive sleeve, located opposite to and spaced from a casing electrode 18, the other end of the heating coil being connected to a terminal screw 27 which projects from and is electrically insulated from the sleeve, and the heating coil being embedded in and enclosed by radially compressed electrically insulating powder 29 having a high heat conductivity. Owing to interlocking (not shown) closure of the switching members 43, 44 is only possible when the engine is stopped. When these switching members are closed the switching member 52 of the relay 40 is opened thereby ensuring that starting is impossible.
