Abstract

861,275. Glow plugs. BOSCH G.m.b.H.,R. Nov. 16, 1959 [Nov. 29, 1958], No. 38692/59. Class 7(4). In a two-pole glow plug for internal-combustion engines, a glow wire resistance 5 is electrically insulatedly embedded in a substantially scale-proof metal sleeve 3 which is electrically insulatedly secured in a longitudinal bore of a of a plug casing 2 with the ends of the resistance electrically conductively connected one to the combustion chamber end 8 of the sleeve and the other to a bolt-like member 6 for connection to one conductor of a glow plug circuit which member is electrically insulatedly mounted in the other end of the sleeve and a terminal piece 9 for connection to a second conductor of the glow plug circuit is provided at the other end of the sleeve and extends partly within the plug casing. As shown the sleeve 3 is secured by means of a vitreous enamel 4. The vitreous enamel may be replaced by other insulating agents such as mica, ceramic powder, putty or one or several phosphate layers. In Fig. 2 the sleeve 3 is fitted in a carrying sleeve 13 the upper end of which is a press fit in the casing 2.
