Abstract

1354752 Treating exhaust gases NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 18 Aug 1971 [24 Oct 1970] 38685/71 Heading F1B A catalytic converter for exhaust gases comprises an outer elongate casing 12 with inlet 12a and outlet 12b, elongate inner casings 17, 17' each with parallel first and second apertured side walls 15, 15', 16, 16' an inner passageway 18 between the first side walls 15, 15' and in communication with the inlet 12a, an outlet passageway 14 within the outer casing and surrounding both inner casings 17, 17' and in-communication with the outlet 12b, there being catalyst elements 19, 19' within the inner casings. The downstream end of the inner passageway 18 may have a valve (21) Fig.3, (not shown) adapted to open when exhaust gas pressure exceeds a certain value.
