Abstract
1,247,517. Silencing gaseous flow. WALKER MFG. CO. Sept.25, 1968 [Sept.26, 1967], No.45508/68. Heading F1B. [Also in Divisions B3 and F2] In an exhaust or intake silencer, a gas flow tube 19 is clamped to a partition 9 by a set of radially outwardly extending projections 27 engaging one side of the partition around the annular tube receiving neck 17 and a set of projections 33, 35 in the open end of the tube engaging the rim of the neck. The tube 19 has louvres 25 which may extend to the partition and form the first set of projections. The projections 33, 35 may be formed by forcing the tube 19, with the partition 9 thereon engaging a back-up plate (37), Fig. 5 (not shown), on to a die (41) with projections (43) which deform the open end of the tube outwardly.
