Abstract

1354712 Nuclear reactors ASEA-ATOM AB 27 Sept 1971 [28 Sept 1970] 44851/71 Heading G6C In a boiling water nuclear reactor, a moderator tank which is mounted within the reactor tank, is provided with a lid on which steam separators are clamped. The centrifugal separators, 11, are held against the pipes, 10, by the clamps, 13. Steam is generated in the core 3 within the moderator tank, 2 and flows through the passages, 9, in the lid, 8, to the separators. The steam is forced to the longitudinal axis of the riser pipe, 14, by the oblique blades, 18, which rotate the steam-water mixture. The separated water is forced through the perforated conical part, 15 and falls in the gap between 14 and the bell-shaped casing 23. Vibration of the arrangement is prevented by the grids 25, 26, 27. A further water separation is effected by the domed deflection caps, 28. The clamp, 13, comprises a rod, 35, which is screwed at its lower end into the pipes, 10, or 41. The rod is tensioned against the cover, 24, by the nut 54.
