Abstract

1352911 Straightening R G BODTKE 28 June 1971 30239/71 Heading B3E A pull-through straightener for metal strip has at least three bottom rolls 15, 16, 17 and at least two top rolls 26A, 26B all of the same diameter, free running and disposed parallel with each other, the axes of the first two bottom rolls 15, 16 being spaced substantially two roll diameters. The lower rolls 15, 16 and 17 are mounted in side plates 13 carried by a base 10. The upper rolls, 26A and 26B are carried by side plates 25 pivoted at one end 21 to the side plates 13 to enable the spring loaded top roll frame to swing upwardly. The rolls may be chrome plated and polished. Adjustable stops 30 support the top frame in the lowered position and a handle 43 actuates a locking bar 48 by means of a cam 44 to hold the roll frame firmly in position during the straightening. The strip is guided by rolls or rods 55 and edge guides 53a adjustable along the rolls 55.
