Abstract

1351290 Capacitors BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd 26 May 1972 [28 May 1971] 17919/71 Heading H1M In a capacitor of the type wherein circumferential corrugations 12 in the wall of casing 2 permit harnessing of relative movement of two portions of the casing to actuate a cut-out device, as shown both capacitor electrodes are connected to contacts 3, 4 rigidly mounted on support plate 5 fixed in position by the lowest corrugation, counter-contacts 7, 8 integral with terminals 9, 10 are rigidly mounted on closure member 11, the contacts and counter-contacts interengaging to prevent relative rotation of closure member 11 and support plate 5 and to provide an electrical connection separable on opening of the corrugations in response to excessive pressure within the casing 2. The contacts and counter-contacts may be simple plug and socket arrangements, but preferably have a snap-action engagement, e.g. contacts 3, 4 may be of the "flower-head" type.
