Abstract

1291291 Capacitors BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd 28 May 1971 [29 May 1970] 26040/70 Heading H1M Capacitor terminals 4 are connected to the capacitor body 1 in casing 2 by leads 7 extending through resilient seals 12 into sockets 13, corrugations 11 in the casing permitting end portion 3 supporting the terminals to move away in response to increased pressure within the casing and disconnect the sockets 13 from leads 7. The other ends of leads 7 are preferably fixed to body 1 which in turn is fixed with respect to the main part of casing 2 by insulating cap 6 and insulating disc 9 bearing against a shoulder formed by a first corrugation 10. A moulded plug 14 of polyethylene or polypropylene may have a discharge resistor 15 embedded in it. The seals between leads 7 and the casing may be frangible instead of resilient. The other end of leads 7 may alternatively be connected to another external terminal if it is not desirable to open-circuit the capacitor.
