Abstract

1485971 Two-part couplings ELFAB CORP 3 Sept 1974 [4 Sept 1973] 38480/74 Heading H2E A plurality of resilient contacts 31 of one of a pair of connector members 10 are press fitted into two parallel rows of holes 15 in a substrate 13 or 14 and covered by a housing 11 or 12; and the contacts of one of the members are connected to respective wires of an electric cable (not shown). The connector member joined to the electric cable is preferably provided with a cable hood (Fig. 11, not shown). The contacts are either formed with or without the neck 37 for wire wrapping on common support strips and then separated for use. The contacts are preferably formed with a stiffening rib (38) for secure mounting in the substrate, flanges 35 for prestressing the contacts against the housings and raised positions (26) to provide a snap-action on engagement of the connector members.
