Abstract

1349499 Tower cranes M TAMBURINI 28 March 1972 [3 April 1971] 14485/72 Heading B8B [Also in Division El] A tower crane for use in erecting a multistorey building comprises a jib 4 extending horizontally on both sides of a supporting tower which consists of a pair of spaced masts 2 between which the jib is vertically slidably mounted, the jib and tower being of latticework construction, and the jib carrying a travel. ling trolley 13 and having elevating means including an hydraulic jack 5. The jib 4 is carried by a support 3 which is movable step-wise up and down the tower by means of the jack 5, which is connected between a fixed cross-beam 6 and a slidable cross-beam 7 of the support 3, and pivoted bearing catches 8, 9, 10, 11 on the ends of the beams 6, 7, which are engageable with bars 12 of the masts 2, the jack being successively extended and retracted and respective pairs of the bearing catches successively engaging with bars 12. The support 3 has an aperture 14 for passage of the trolley 13. The crane may have wheels for travelling along rails, or may be rotatable.
