1349224 Temperature alarms G U J JAEGER GmbH 20 Oct 1972 [21 Oct 1971] 48314/72 Heading G4N [Also in Division G1] A wheel bearing temperature monitoring device suitable for high speed rail vehicles comprises at least two temperature detectors, silicon semi-conductors, one LTA arranged so that in use it produces a signal representing the bearing outer ring temperature and the other ATA arranged on a plate on the vehicle of which plate the ratio of surface area to volume is at least substantially equal to that of the bearing housing and producing a signal representing ambient air temperature the two detectors being connected to vary the resistances of two arms of a bridge circuit and producing an output signal dependent upon the difference in their temperatures which signal is connected to two alarm devices so that for a first value of temperature difference a warning signal is actuated and for a second value of temperature difference an alarm signal is actuated. In addition alarm devices are actuated to warn of short circuit and open circuit conditions.
