Abstract
1348667 Electro-photographic developing RANK XEROX Ltd 19 April 1971 [4 Feb 1970] 21056/71 Heading G2H An electrostatic latent image is developed under the influence of an electrode by toner particles in an insulating liquid; the effect of the electrode being increased during development. It is stated that this reduces background deposition, halo, edge effect and streaking. The effect of the electrode may be adjusted by varying its distance from the image, by varying a resistance through which it is earthed or by varying the thickness of a dielectric layer on the electrode. As shown, an image bearing sheet 10 is fed by a belt 83 past an electrode 80 inclined towards the belt. Other embodiments, Figs. 14-23, (not shown), include the use of plate electrodes, apertured electrodes and roller electrodes to vary the electrode to image distance.
