Abstract
1348023 Dry shavers PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 26 May 1971 [29 May 1970] 17238/71 Heading B4 A dry-shaver comprises a shaving head or heads 4 surrounded by a non-rotatable skintightening rim 7 formed on an annular member 1 which is adjustable to vary the height of the rim relative to the shaving head or heads, the member 1 being held in engagement by spring 16 with an adjusting ring 9. The cutter heads 4 are mounted on a plate 2 which is connected by spring means (21), Fig. 3 (not shown), to the annular member 1. The member 1 is provided with a rib 10 having an inclined surface 12 against which an arm 15 of a lever 14 is urged by the spring 16 thereby maintaining the lower end 8 of the annular member against the adjusting ring 9. The ring is formed with cam surfaces 38 which co-operate with projections 32a on a casing member 32 alternatively the position of the cam surfaces and projections can be reversed. Upon rotation of the ring the skin-tensioning ring is raised or lowered relative to the shaving heads 4; the ring is locked in selected positions by spring-loaded balls engaging in grooves 28, Fig. 2, provided in the ring. In order to remove the shaving head assembly including the member 1, a cam disc 17 is rotated by a member 33, a cam surface 18 acting on the lever 14 thereby releasing the arm 15 from engagement with the surface 12; more than one lever arrangement may be provided.
