Abstract

1347697 Gas turbine combustion chambers MOTOREN-UND TURBINEN-UNION MUNCHEN GmbH 19 April 1971 [18 April 1970] 27004/71 Heading F1L A reverse flow combustion chamber for a gas turbine engine comprises a flame tube 5 with apertures for primary and secondary air (duct 7 and openings 8) and a conical end wall formed by the combustion chamber rear wall 2 containing a fuel injector nozzle 3, there being additional air inlet openings 12 in the flame tube wall with air guides 13 projecting into the flame tube inclined relative to its axis. Air blown through the openings 12 is guided along the surface of the conical end wall towards the nozzle 3. The air guides 13 may be tubes and/or partly cylindrical ribs (14) Fig. 3 (not shown) to prevent deflection of the air streams F from openings 12 by the primary air inlet stream E. The invention can also be applied to annular combustion chambers and chambers incorporating an annular outer casing housing several flame tubes.
