Abstract
1504681 Gas turbine combustion chambers DAIMLER-BENZ AG 11 March 1976 [14 March 1975] 09774/76 Heading F1L [Also in Division F4] A gas turbine combustion chamber includes an evaporator tube 10 whose inner surface is wetted by fuel from a supply means 23 extending radially outwardly and opening immediately adjacent the surface. Air is supplied to the upstream end of tube 10 from chamber 17 via radial swirl grid 7, a projection from member 5 deflecting the swirling air leaving the grid into the axial direction. Fuel vaporization is assisted by a recirculation flow 21 of combustion gas along the outer surface of tube 10 induced by air entering the interior of annular device 16 through orifices 19 and ejected through slot 20. A. return flow 24 also occurs from combustion zone 15 to the centre of tube 10. Fuel supply means 23 may consist of radial fine tubes connected to a fuel duct 22 within members 5. In a modification Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) the tubes have axially extending portions (26) at their tips and member 5 includes connections (27, 28) for main and ignition fuel respectively. Connection (27) may be supplied with compressed air for flushing duct 22. An atomizer nozzle (29) is provided on member 5 for ignition fuel.
