Abstract

1346961 Automatic control of web tension HYDREL A G 26 April 1972 [26 April 1971] 19350/72 Heading G3R In a system for keeping constant tension in a web 1 during winding or unwinding by controlling the speed of a hydraulic reel motor 6 in response to electrical signals indicative of the position of a compensating roller 2 in a loop of the material, additional control signals are provided by tachogenerators 17, 18 on guide rollers 3, 4 on either side of the loop. Under stable conditions the tachogenerator signals are equal and of opposite polarity, and so cancel out, but they are effective during acceleration or deceleration to prevent oscillations of the compensating roller 2. The signals are summed in an amplifier 15, with gain adjuster 16, to control a regulator 12 of a hydraulic pump 7. 10 is a "brake valve".
