Abstract

1346693 Coating with fibres; non-woven fabric CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL PAPER CO 31 March 1971 8319/71 Headings D1L and D1R In the coating of a tissue web 17 with fibres in two stages, to produce a coating with a thicker part in the middle of the web, the web passes through two coating positions 23 and 25 at each of which air is sucked through the web by a vacuum box 53 and 54, this air having fibres entrained in it which are thus deposited on the web. These fibres are obtained from a felted web of wood pulp 37, which passes through a shredder 35 and a mill 41. Whilst being coated the web 17 overlies a pervious conveyor belt 29 which guides it under sealing rollers 91 in to the forming chambers 27 wherein it is coated. In the embodiment a narrow central strip placed on the web in the first chamber 27 is overlaid by a wider strip at the second position 25, in its chamber 27.
