Abstract

1346635 Rolling tubes FRIEDRICH KOCKS 19 April 1971 [31 Jan 1970 19 Aug 1970] 20233/71 Heading B3M A rolled bloom 1, Fig. 1, together with its mandrel rod 2, are shifted laterally on to a parallel roller table 20 after passing axially on to a roller table 4 following a skew-rolling operation. A fresh mandrel rod is positioned on the table 4 immediately following removal of the first mandrel rod and bloom. Pivoted levers 14 serve to shift the mandrel and bloom to a sloping surface 18 and to the table 20, the upper rollers 8 of the guide roller assemblies first having been raised. On the table 20 the bloom is removed and the mandrel shifted into an aperture in a revolving wheel 28. The mandrel rod may be cooled in a water trough, and is eventually deposited on a table 38 ready for reuse. The table is lowered, Fig. 2, after a bloom has been ejected from the table 4, in order to position the fresh mandrel rod ready for rolling a new bloom. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 4, a fixed table 38a is provided, and a series of levers 14a are pivoted to the table. As the levers rotate, they shift a mandrel rod 2a from the table 4, Fig. 6, and simultaneously feed a new mandrel 2b on to the table. The rollers of the table, and also the rollers 8a and 8b of the guides, are suitably adjusted during the ejection and feeding operations.
