Abstract

1,205,662. Rolling gears. LANDIS MACHINE CO. 17 Jan., 1968 [27 Feb., 1967], No. 22017/69. Divided out of 1,205,661. Heading B3M. An apparatus, suitable for loading and unloading hollow gear blanks W from a turret 130 associated with a pair of die rolls 22 and 24, includes an entry hopper 282, an exit hopper 284, and an axially movable slide disposed between the hoppers. The slide is hydraulically operated and includes side plates 312 and 314 which are shaped to correspond to the contour of a blank. When the plates are withdrawn from the position shown, a blank is pulled from the mandrel and is allowed to fall down the hopper 284. The staggered relationship of the hoppers prevents blanks from passing directly from the entry to the exit hoppers. As the plates are moved towards the mandrel a new blank falls into the shaped gap between the plates and is fed on to a further mandrel 146. The mandrels are mounted on a turret which is indexed through 90 degrees between rolling steps, the loading station being opposite the rolling station.
