Abstract

1346246 Flame-proofing textiles REICHHOLD-ALBERT-CHEMIE AG 19 April 1971 [7 Feb 1970] 21160/71 Heading D1P Textiles, such as wool, cotton, sisal, hemp, regenerated cellulose, polyamides or polyesters are rendered flameproof by treatment with red phosphorus and a synthetic resin. The material may be applied as a powder, a melt, a solution, a dispersion in water or an emulsion. Specified synthetic resins are phenol-formaldehyde resins, melamine and urea resins, epoxy resins from diphenylol propane and epichlorhydrin, polyesters from phthalic anhydride, maleic anhydride and diethylene glycol and styrene, polyethylene, polyvinylacetate and vinyl acetate copolymers. The compositions applied to the textiles may contain resin hardeners, e.g. hexamethylene tetramine dicyandiamide, fillers, e.g. silicic acid, talc and limestone and other flame proofing agents, e.g. boric acid, calcium borate and antimony oxide. Several layers of treated textile material may be pressed together to form as insulating material.
