Abstract

Non-flammable particle board, esp. wood particle board, contg. 5-10 wt.% (based on wood) of a mixture of boric acid and an organic nitrogen compound such as urea or pref. melamine or dicyandiamide, in a 50:50 to 75:25, pref. 65:35 to 75:25, wt. ratio. The board has better flammability properties, and does not show the hardening retardation effects of prior art dicyandiamide compoositions. Binder is pref. a urea-formaldehyde resin.
