Abstract

1345727 Laminated diaper SCOTT PAPER CO 19 April 1971 [30 March 1970] 25470/71 Heading B5N [Also in Divisions D1-D2 and A3] A diaper comprises a moisture absorbent layer 46 of fluffed wood pulp fibres, contoured to an hour-glass configuration and covered with a moisture absorbent non-woven facing layer 42 and a backing layer 44 (see Divisions D1-D2) of a mixture of wood pulp and rayon fibres bonded with acrylic latex. The layers 42, 44 may be embossed before lamination. The layers 42, 44, 46 may be laminated with a hot melt adhesive. A fluid impermeable polyethylene sheet may be inserted between layers 44 and 46, or backing layer 44 may be coated or treated with a water impermeable substance such as an emulsion of wax and polyvinylacetate. The diaper is embossed with longitudinal and transverse channels 52, 54. Regions 48, 50 are strengthened for receiving pins by folding over end portions of sheet 44, incorporating gauze inserts or applying binder.
