Abstract

1345663 Roof hatch; latches WASCO PRODUCTS INC 20 July 1972 [24 Sept 1971] 33976/72 Headings E2A and E2M A roof hatch assembly comprises a cover 12 hinged to a raised surround 10 and biassed by torsion springs 16, 18 to an open position, with hydraulic shock absorbers 42R, 42L pivotally connected to the cover and surround to damp opening forces; a bar 52R, 52L being pivoted to the cover, overlying the piston of each shock absorber in the closed position, Fig. 2, and riding over the piston as the cover opens to engage the end of the piston and lock the cover open. Each bar 52 is pivoted to the same point as the piston rod 50 and comprises a length of angle iron which drops over the piston rod in the open position. A reaction pad (e.g. 54L Fig. 3, not shown) is provided at the end of each cylinder to bear the load of the bar. Latching arrangements 34, 36 maintain the cover closed until released by fusible link 38, manually operated means 40, or electrical means (not shown). (For Figures see next page)
