Abstract

1350844 Vehicle roofs HALLAM SLEIGH and CHESTON Ltd 6 Nov 1972 [5 Nov 1971] 51507/71 Heading B7B A rectangular panel 1, for closing a vehicle roof aperture, is mounted so that it may be opened to uncover all four sides of the aperture or may be tilted during opening so that one side remains closed whilst the opposite side is fully opened. The front and rear sides of the panel each have two spaced struts 3 each of which connects to a toggle mechanism. The mechanisms are arranged one at each end of a channel 9 at the front and rear of the aperture and each comprise two pivotally interconnected levers 11, 14, the former being pivotally connetted to a strut 3 and a spring loaded block 13, and the latter being pivoted at a fixed block 16. Each strut has a cylindrically formed end portion 23 which is pivotally received in a groove 22 of a mounting block 21. Block 21 is mounted on the panel by a bolt whose head 25 slidably engages in a T-channel 24. The mounting of the block 21 on the panel 1 and the strut 3 in the block allow the longitudinal or transverse tilting movement during opening of the aperture.
