Abstract

1345426 Making electrical connectors MOLEX Inc 4 Aug 1971 [5 Aug 1970] 36556/71 Heading B3A [Also in Division H2] A method of manufacturing a connector 70 comprises providing a blank having a sheet of conductive material 100 with a layer of insulation 104 laminated over a portion 105 to 106 of the sheet, folding the blank so that part of the sheet that is free of the insulation is brought face to face against the insulated part P with the insulation between the two parts (steps E to H) and then working the two parts P, P<SP>1</SP> and the insulating sheet so as to form a connector having a generally tubular body, the part P<SP>1</SP> forming an inner conductor insulated from an outer conductor formed from the part P<SP>1</SP>, by means of the insulation. The conducting sheet may be brass, beryllium-copper or phosphor bronze and the insulation may be formed from a 0À005 inch thick sheet of ethylene polyterepthalate which can be connected with the metal by a heat, pressure sensitive, or adhesive bond.
