Abstract

1,245,122. Tape-cable connectors. A.B. ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS Ltd. 22 May, 1969 [22 May, 1968], No. 24430/68. Heading H2E. Connections to conductors 8 in a tape cable 7 are made by teeth 15 on contacts 10 maintained under pressure by a spring 17 and a support 16 which may also be resilient. The contacts are retained longitudinally in a grooved carrier 13 by shoulders 11, 12 and the assembly of spring, carrier, contacts, cable and support is compressed and inserted in a housing 1 where it is kept under compression and may be retained by barbs (20). To improve contact, the cable may be pulled longitudinally so that the teeth plough through the insulation before the housing is crimped to clamp the cable at 6.
