Abstract

1,144,300. Making electrical connections. AMP Inc. 11 Jan., 1968 [1 Feb., 1967], No. 1662/68. Heading B3A. [Also in Division H2] A device for making electrical connection between two pairs of insulated wires 4 and 6 comprises two electrically conductive ferrules, 8 and 10, mechanically connected and electrically insulated by an insulating film 12, each ferrule having means for piercing the insulation of the wires when the ferrule is crimped. Signal wire 14 of wire pair 4 is inserted into ferrule 8 while earth wire 22 of pair 4 is passed over body 1 of the device and into ferrule 10 in which is also inserted the earth wire of pair 6. The signal wire of pair 6 is similarly passed over the body and into ferrule 8. A die set is described for crimping the wires, this die set being also described and claimed in Specification 1,059,254. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,043,653.
